SOFTWARE/FIRMWARE ENGINEER

Contract Term: Permanent
Hours: Monday - TBA
Salary: £36,000

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Principal Engineer: The successful candidate will get an opportunity to work alongside a talented team of engineers to develop a range of challenging engineering solutions

·         Working closely with Product Managers to conceptualise, build, test and realise products

·         Assisting the creation and communication of feasible project plans

·         Assisting the preparation of design review

·         Responsible for producing design and test documentation

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Essential

  • Good knowledge of C and C++
  • Good knowledge of OO design
  • Good knowledge of embedded design and control of hardware
  • Familiar with Common Version control systems (Git, SVN, etc)
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel is essential
  • English: Fluent

 Desirable:

  • Knowledge of C#, Java, QT or Objective-C
  • Knowledge of Mobile design platforms (iOS and Android)
  • Some experience of Linux or Unix
  • Understanding of safety critical design


Joinery Machinist

Contract Term: Permanent
Hours: Monday - Friday 7.00am - 3.00pm
Salary: £8.43 p/h under review


Working as part of a team for a shop fitting company you will be an experienced Joinery Machinist, working on a variety of materials. You will also receive 25 days holiday excluding bank holidays.


Essential skills and experience

Experienced in using CNC Routers, Beam Saw, Edge Banders performing TPM

Excellent understanding of CAD drawings

Desired:

You will have the ability to work as part of a team but also on your own.

You will have a good communication skills



Embedded Software/Firmware Engineer

Working as part of the engineering team you will be responsible for the design and development of software / firmware for automotive electronics. This will involve interpreting specifications to produce software functional specifications, coding, testing, software design and documentation. The role will also include software functional safety analysis, design and validation

Essential skills and experience

·         Proficient C programming in embedded system environment.
·         Minimum 3 years of experience in embedded software development or Automotive ECU programming.
·         Experience with various microcontrollers and related compilers and debuggers such as ARM Cortex-M, AVR, Microchip PIC, DsPic, TI-C2000, MSP430, Infinion-TriCore etc.
·         Experience in automotive motor control applications and power management applications.
·         Knowledge in control software for analogue and digital circuits.
·         Experience in automotive protocols such as CAN, LIN
·         Experience in peripherals interfaces (UART, SPI, I2C, ADC, Flash, GPIO)
·         Knowledge in modular APIs and code reusability.
·         Source code version control and build process.
·         Unit testing methodology.
·         Experience in handling of testing and measurement equipment (Oscilloscope, DVM, Vector CANalyzer, etc.)

Desirable experience and skills
·         National Instruments LabVIEW
·         Good experience with Matlab/Simulink
·         Experience in Automotive diagnostics standard protocols like ISO14229, OBD2
·         Experience in Automotive Functional Safety according ISO26262, IEC61508, D078B
·         Experience in Electric Vehicle Battery Management Systems (BMS)
·         Experience in Automotive Bootloaders.

Minimum Qualifications
·         BSc (Hons) in Computer Science / Software Engineering, BEng (Hons) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering or equivalent.  2.1 or higher grade, or in a comparable field.


Mechanical Engineer

Contract Term:

Our client is looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer. The aim is to develop a waste heat recovery system designed to deliver reduced emissions and fuel efficiency savings of at least 8% across all types of ship. Working as part of the engineering team you will be working full time on this.

Essential skills and experience:

2D AutoCad and 3D Inventor design capability.  Design for fabrication and machining.  Thermodynamics/theros-fluid calculations.  Writing of test reports.  A sound knowledge of electrical motors, pipework and valves.

Desirable skills and experience:

Experience of working within the marine industry.  Understanding of marine standards.

Responsibilities on the project:

P&ID or ORC connection to engine/vessel.  3D models.  Pipework, valves ORC skid in vessel.  Test rig for generator (dyno).  Test rig for ORC full load test.  Assisting in development of electric motors/pumps.  Detail drawings of components.  Verification of compliance with class.  Reviewing designs.  Assisting in testing activities, producing reports.  Assisting in site installation activities, producing survey, commissioning and testing reports.

Qualifictions: HNC/BEng (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
